The Base Programme
A structured, 4-week guided introduction to SMS Meditation — designed to give you everything you need to begin and sustain a practice that will last a lifetime.
Programme structure
Four weeks, week by week
Each week builds on the last. By week four, you have a sustainable, self-directed practice — and you know why it works.
Week 1 — Foundation
Introduction to SMS Meditation and the mantra. Establishing a daily sitting routine. Understanding the relationship between posture, breath, and stillness.
Week 2 — Deepening the Sit
Extending duration. Observing thought-patterns without engagement. Introduction to basic prāṇāyāma as a preparation practice.
Week 3 — Mind & Inquiry
Introduction to Vichāra (self-inquiry) as a complementary practice. Understanding the witness-consciousness. Addressing common obstacles.
Week 4 — Integration
Carrying the quality of meditation into daily life. Karma yoga as practice. Graduation to independent practice with ongoing support.

By the end of the Base Programme you can sit independently. No props, no app, no timer required. Just you, the mantra, and the stillness that is always available.
Graduates are eligible for Theme Programmes, ashram retreats, and the Arsha Gurukulam community.
