Thasmai Charitable Trust — Knowledge is God

Science and spirituality

Spiritual Research Center

Exploring the intersection of inner science and outer knowledge — validating the benefits of SMS Meditation through empirical research, holistic health, and multidisciplinary inquiry.

Why we research

Two types of knowing

Information is received. Knowledge is experienced.

If we want to know the taste of sugar, we have to eat it. We cannot understand 'sweetness' by reading a thousand-page thesis on sugar. Similarly, to satisfy hunger we need to eat food; to quench thirst we need to drink water. Knowing the formula H₂O is not enough. Likewise, to enjoy the sweetness of spirituality, we have to experience it.

When it comes to experience, it is the same for everyone — regardless of caste, creed, religion, colour, education, wealth, or background. Once something is experienced, it becomes knowledge. All that is not experienced is simply information — and from this gap, differences arise.

"KNOWLEDGE comes only from EXPERIENCE; Everything else is INFORMATION."

What we study

SMS Meditation and holistic health

SMS stands for Sun, Moon, and Star — three cosmic forces that influence the seven Sookshma (subtle) bodies of the human being. SMS Meditation works directly with these forces to restore harmony across all dimensions of health: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

The research centre investigates the mechanisms and measurable outcomes of this practice. Rather than seeking pharmaceutical solutions, we study how inner alignment through meditation produces lasting, natural improvements in health and well-being.

Modern medicine excels in emergency care. But for chronic conditions rooted in stress, lifestyle, and subtle energetic imbalance — nature may offer more complete answers. The Spiritual Research Center exists to document what those answers look like in practice.

Preliminary insights

Early research findings

Preliminary data from SMS Meditation practitioners points to measurable improvements across several key health indicators:

Sleep quality

Practitioners report significant improvements in sleep patterns — reduced time to fall asleep, fewer disruptions, and more restorative sleep overall.

Stress reduction

Data shows meaningful reductions in stress indicators across both male and female practitioners — with sustained improvement over time.

Gender-specific insights

Research findings reveal distinct patterns across genders, supporting a more personalised approach to the meditation technique.

Holistic health markers

Beyond psychology, the research examines physical health markers — including conditions that conventional medicine treats primarily with medication.

Longitudinal tracking

Long-term practitioner cohorts are being tracked to build a richer picture of how sustained practice changes health trajectories over months and years.

Biochemical assessment

Our biochemists conduct rigorous laboratory-level assessments alongside psychological and lifestyle data collection.

Philosophy

Science and spirituality are not opposites

Science seeks with desire; spirituality serves with selflessness

All scientific discoveries arise from a person's continuous investigation driven by self-interest. In spirituality, we enter unlimited space. When we surrender selflessly and without desire, the secrets of the universe are revealed as blessings — Athma Jnanam (self-enlightenment). It happens in the subtle world, not visible to the naked eye.

Spirituality is the foundation of science

The universe holds an unchanging truth. Even if the whole world denies it, that truth remains constant. Isaac Newton did not create gravity — he named what already existed. It is our ignorance to say that everything science has not yet proven is wrong. If someone sits calmly and selflessly, thoughts gradually subside — much like muddy water clears when left undisturbed. This is accessible to any human being.

Brahma Jnana — the answer to all questions

When a self-realised person surrenders selflessly and merges from body consciousness into universe consciousness, they travel to the subtle world via the seven subtle bodies. Since science has personal interests, there is only one answer to each question. But since spirituality is selfless, the answer to all questions is found in a single question: "Who am I?" The answer is called Brahma Jnana.

Our approach

A multidisciplinary research committee

Our research committee is a dynamic team of esteemed professionals from varied fields — dedicated to exploring and validating the benefits of SMS Meditation from multiple perspectives.

Medical Practitioners

Experts from various medical fields bring clinical insights to assess the physiological impacts of SMS Meditation — understanding how the practice affects the body and helps alleviate health issues.

Researchers

Dedicated scientists and scholars conduct rigorous biochemical and psychological assessments — analysing changes in biochemical markers and psychological states to provide concrete evidence of the meditation's benefits.

Psychologists

Mental health specialists evaluate the psychological transformations experienced by participants — assessing how SMS Meditation affects mental well-being, stress levels, and overall emotional health.

Astrologers & Astrophysicists

Astrologers study changes in the planetary positions in participants' horoscopes and how these correlate with well-being and recovery. Astrophysicists provide cosmic context.

Engineers & IT Professionals

Technical experts design and implement advanced tools and systems for data collection and analysis — ensuring precise, comprehensive data processing that supports rigorous research.
